This Is My Favorite Quick Fix For Dry Lips, And It’s So Easy Too | One Good Thing by Jillee

lip scrub

The recent cold weather is really starting to take its toll on my hands, feet, arms, legs, and face. But the one area where dryness has been giving me the most grief lately is my lips!

Despite the fact that I’ve been vigilant about moisturizing them, my lips continue to be stubbornly flaky, and it’s particularly noticeable when I apply my lipstick in the mornings. As you might know from your own experience, applying lipstick to chapped lips is not a great look!

But luckily I have a secret weapon for ultra-dry lips that makes a huge difference: my all-natural peppermint lip scrub was born! It couldn’t be easier to make, and it’s a great way to exfoliate and moisturize dry lips, regardless of whether you’ll be applying lipstick afterward!

You can make this simple sugar scrub in minutes using just a few simple ingredients from your pantry. Start with virgin coconut oil, which is a highly effective natural moisturizer in its own right (and it’s loaded with antioxidants too!) Add some ordinary white sugar for gentle exfoliation, a tiny bit of honey to lock in moisture, and some peppermint essential oil to make it smell and taste good!

It’s best to make this lip scrub in small batches because it doesn’t keep well—the sugar will eventually dissolve into the oil and honey. So the recipe below makes just enough to fill a small lip balm container, or at least a couple of uses. Here’s how to make it!

How To Make An Exfoliating Peppermint Lip Scrub

Using Your Peppermint Lip Scrub

With clean hands, scoop out about 1/2 teaspoon of the scrub from the container and gently rub it onto your lips in a circular motion. Continue for about 30 seconds, then gently wipe your lips clean.

Or, since all the ingredients are edible, you could just lick your lips clean! Not only will your lips be nice and smooth, but your breath will be minty fresh too! :-)
