We’ve all been wearing our masks for some time now, and I’m betting that most of us are looking forward to the day (whenever it comes) that we can go about our daily lives without them. But I don’t have nearly as much to complain about as those who have to wear them all day at work, because I work mostly from home where I don’t need to wear one!
But regardless of how much mask wearing you do regularly, it’s still a sign of the times, and the times are stressful. And since many essential oils are known to have a calming effect, I thought I’d try my hand at whipping up a mask spray using essential oils to help keep stress in check and fight the feeling of “mask fatigue!”

Choosing Oils For Your Mask Spray
The nice thing about making this spray yourself is that you can choose your oils based on what type of effect you think would be most beneficial! For example, our air quality here in Utah can really suffer during the wintertime due to inversions, so I could spritz it with a mask spray containing Defend to help keep those environmental threats at bay.
Eucalyptus would be great for keeping your sinuses clear and airways open, citrus oils like lemon and sweet orange help promote a sunny disposition, and peppermint provides an all-natural energy boost!
If the holidays (or just life in general) have you feeling stressed out or anxious, try adding lavender or Calm Mind to your mask spray. And for those who suffer from frequent headaches, spritzing your mask with Complete Relief would be an excellent option!
As you can see, there are plenty of good options to choose from here. But even if you’re not in need of any specific sorts of benefits from your mask spray, it’s just nice to have an easy way to make your mask smell a bit nicer! And anything that makes wearing a mask a little more comfortable, especially during this particular season, is reason enough in my opinion!
Here’s how you can make your own mask spray at home:
How To Make A DIY Mask Spray

You’ll need:
- 3 Tbsp rubbing alcohol
- 20 drops essential oils
- 1-6 Tbsp distilled water
- Small glass spray bottle

Directions:
Using a measuring cup or a small funnel, add the rubbing alcohol and essential oils to a small glass spray bottle. Replace the top and shake vigorously to mix.

Remove the top again and fill the remainder of the with distilled water. (The amount will vary based on the size of your spray bottle.) Replace the top, give the bottle another shake, and you’re done!

How To Use
Holding the bottle about 12 inches away from your clean face mask, spritz your finished mask spray lightly onto both sides. (A light spritzing should ensure your mask doesn’t feel wet or damp after using your mask spray.)
Then don your mask and take a deep breath. Ahh… I feel better already! :-)
