8 Of The Best Drugstore Skincare Products, According To Dermatologists | One Good Thing by Jillee

drugstore skincare

Even if your skincare regimen is relatively simple, it’s all too easy to spend a small fortune on skincare products! And for most of us, if we spent $30 or more on each of the products we use regularly, that fortune might not even be all that small.

But luckily for us, there are plenty of quality skincare products that can be found at affordable prices in the aisles of the nearest drugstore! Many of them even get a thumbs-up from dermatologists, including the ones I’ll be sharing with you in today’s post.

I recently scoured dozens of different articles featuring dermatologist’s recommendations of affordable skincare products to find out which products came up most frequently. I ended up with a list of 8 dermatologist-approved skincare products that are not only widely available in stores, but reasonably priced too.

It’s always nice to know that taking care of your skin and taking care of your budget don’t have to be mutually exclusive! :-)

8 Of The Best Drugstore Skincare Products, According To Dermatologists

1. Differin Gel Acne Treatment

Price: $12.88

Differin, a retinoid treatment for acne that used to be prescription-only, is now available over the counter! Dermatologists love it as a gentler alternative to other retinoid products, especially for those with sensitive or easily irritated skin (like me!)

Retinoids like Differin take time to work their magic, so don’t expect to see instant results. But after several weeks of daily application, you’ll start to see improvements in not only acne, but discoloration, inflammation, and even wrinkles too.

2. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel

Price: $15.63

The star ingredient in this light, gel-like moisturizer from Neutrogena is hyaluronic acid, a moisture-binding substance that attracts and locks in moisture to help keep your skin hydrated. If you’re looking for a light, non-greasy moisturizer that will keep your skin looking youthful and radiant, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel is relatively affordable and widely available!

For a dermatologist-approved, no-nonsense facial cleanser, look no further than Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. This soap-free formula gently cleanses skin without disrupting the skin barrier, making it a great option for any skin type.

5. La Roche-Posay Anthelios Tinted Ultra Light Sunscreen

Price: $33.50

Dermatologists the world over agree that applying sunscreen is a vital step in any good skincare regimen. Picking the right sunscreen product is key, because if you don’t like how it feels on your face, you probably won’t use it as much as you should.

This one from La Roche-Posay features SPF 50, and boasts an ultra light finish that won’t leave your skin feeling greasy. It’s also lightly tinted, making it a perfect first step in your morning makeup routine.

6. CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion

Price: $17.38

The CeraVe brand has a cult following for bringing beneficial ceramides to the masses with its affordable products. Their Daily Moisturizing Lotion is a favorite of dermatologists, because it offers long-lasting moisture without any irritating or pore-clogging ingredients or fragrances.

7. Garnier SkinActive Clearly Brighter Anti-Puff Eye Roller

Price: $12.02

Looking for a solution for those seemingly permanent dark circles under your eyes? This option from Garnier’s SkinActive line comes in a convenient roller bottle, so all you have to do is remove the cap and swipe it on!

The gel formula itself features both vitamin C and caffeine to help reduce puffiness and brighten the appearance of the skin around your eyes.

8. Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner

Price: $4.69

Incorporating a toner into your skincare routine is a great way to refresh your skin before applying other products. A witch hazel toner like this one can help remove excess oil, reduce redness and inflammation, and refine your pores. Dermatologists like this option because it won’t strip your skin of moisture like other toners can.
